Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter

As a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids Recruiter, Desiree Reyes works directly with kids who are legally free for adoption, building trust-based relationships and searching for each child’s forever family through child-based recruitment.

Why I started with Arms Wide:

I have always enjoyed working and collaborating with youths in goal setting and accomplishment. Furthermore, I wanted to find a place that contributed to the community and made an impact. When I came across Arms Wide and their work with the Dave Thomas Foundation, I was immediately drawn to the passion and love that they had. Working here, I am given the opportunity to work with compassionate, impactful, and dedicated individuals all being driven by the same goals, that is truly amazing.

My favorite part about my job:

Getting to spend time with each child and learning more about their life and personal goals. I get to be a person on their team who can offer support and encouragement along the way.

My least favorite part:

Seeing how long they have been in foster care and how it has negatively impacted their outlook on life.

More about me:

I love movie nights, experimenting with new recipes, and taking my dog, Sage, on hikes. My worst habit is going to Half Price Books and convincing myself that I will have time to read the three books I am getting, plus the ones from last time that are still on my desk.
