Residential treatment is offered when a child exhibits dangerous behavior such as hurting himself or others and acting out behaviors which are so intense and longstanding that they cannot be managed in the home setting. Residential treatment in Greater Houston or South Texas is an option only after less intensive care options like therapy, respite and day treatment are attempted.
This service is also subject to the availability of funds provided through the DFPS contract that supports Arms Wide’s Post Adoption Program.
In order for the Arms Wide’s Post Adoption Program to pay for residential treatment services, the parents must be actively involved in family therapy at the residential treatment facility while their child is in treatment and the plan must be for the child to return home after treatment is complete. Unfortunately, residential treatment services are not available through our Post Permanency Program.
