Arms Wide offers a variety of post adoption support groups – both for children and families – through its Post Adoption and Post Permanency Programs. Post adoption support is essential to helping normalize challenges many adoptive families face in addition to helping adoptive families build a network of peer support with other adoptive and PMC families in Greater Houston and South Texas.
In the Houston area, Arms Wide’s Post Adoption and Post Permanency Programs is pleased to offer a Mothers Support Group in Fort Bend County. This is a place where adoptive mothers can come together with their peers to share support services and parenting strategies. This group is led by a licensed professional who is knowledgeable regarding trauma, attachment and other adoption-related challenges.
The Family Preservation Group, also in Houston, allows children age 4-17 years of age along with their parents to be involved in a therapeutic peer group environment. These groups are facilitated by licensed professionals with many years of experience in the adoption field. The Family Preservation Groups are a great opportunity to come together, normalize your adoption experience and build a network of peer support with other adoptive families in the Houston area.
Arms Wide’s Post Adoption and Post Permanency Programs offer Spanish speaking support groups in the Houston area as well. These groups meet as funding is available to offer post adoption services support and education to adoptive parents whose primary language is Spanish.
In the Rio Grande Valley area, Arms Wide Adoption Services offers an Adoptive Family Support Group that meets quarterly in Harlingen, Texas to provide parent training and support to all family members.
