Foster Care Adoption Recruiter and Home Developer

As the Recruiter & Home Developer on our Foster Care Adoption team, Kimberly Rivera provides services aimed at attracting and developing foster and adoptive families that meet the unique and diverse needs of the children in need of safe and nurturing permanent families.

Why I started with Arms Wide:

I joined Arms Wide because its mission really stuck out to me. They go beyond minimum standards for child safety and really aim to work with a family to be able to have them fit our standards. Overall, their commitment to serving families and children with compassion, integrity, and inclusivity is why I chose Arms Wide, and why I’m glad they chose me!

My favorite part about my job:

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to support families in their journey of fostering or adopting a child. I have the opportunity to create long-lasting positive change in the lives of families and children.

My least favorite part:

It is heartbreaking to hear that potential foster families are seeking children younger than 10, given the high number of teenagers in need of a safe and nurturing family.

More about me:

I am proudly Mexican American and love traveling! I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Psychology; I am very passionate about social issues and knew that at one point in my career I wanted to dedicate time to child welfare. I love to be able to advocate and be a voice for those who can’t.
