Donna Waller, LMSW
Permanency Program Administrator
As the Permanency Program Administrator, Donna Waller, LMSW, works with post adoption workers in Houston and Corpus Christi, supporting staff who provide families with the services they need to help their children thrive. Her job takes many forms, including managing family crises and new intakes. She also coordinates a support group for moms who have adopted children.
Why I started with Arms Wide:
I always wanted to help others — I studied social work at Oral Roberts University for my undergraduate degree and received my Master of Social Work from San Diego State University. After college, I did discharge planning and crisis work with patients in two different hospitals. It was my work with pregnant teens in Galveston that made me realize I wanted a career that allowed me to work with children and their families, and follow up with their progress through the years. This role at Arms Wide fit the bill perfectly.
My favorite part about my job:
My favorite part is supporting families through difficult times. When the result is permanency for the kids, I know we’ve succeeded.
My least favorite part:
It’s incredibly hard when a child has to reenter CPS custody.
More about me:
Spending time with family is most important to me. I’m looking forward to being a grandmother.
