Sharon D. Carter
Post Adoption/Post Permanency Case Manager
As Post Adoption/Post Permanency Case Manager, Sharon Carter finds solutions to any issues that arise after a child has been permanently placed with a family. Her goal is to do everything in her power to make sure the child stays in the family. Sharon earned a B.S. in Psychology from Texas Southern University, and worked in various aspects of social services before joining the Arms Wide family.
Why I started with Arms Wide:
I’ve worked in social services in a lot of different environments, including in clinics and hospitals. I have a background in case management from my time working at CPS, which prepared me well for my position at Arms Wide.
My favorite part about my job:
My favorite part is working with the families. And I like problem solving. When a family describes a situation they’re struggling with, I sort through it piece by piece and create a plan of action to resolve the issue.
My least favorite part:
Filing is . . . tedious. But, in all seriousness, the lack of funding for post adoption and post permanency resources is most frustrating. It makes it harder to find solutions for families in need.
More about me:
I just love helping our families. Knowing I can find solutions to the problems that worry them is so fulfilling.

Reality TV! Right now, I’m hooked on The Bachelorette, America’s Got Talent and Orange is the New Black. I’m also a movie buff, and love watching movies anytime!
