Foster Care Adoption Coordinator

As the Foster Care Adoption Coordinator, Yajaira Cruz Alonso manages the foster homes in which our kids are placed. She will focus on helping each child receive what they need to feel less anxious about joining their foster family.

Why I started with Arms Wide:

I started with Arms wide because since middle school I knew I wanted to work with children and adolescents. Then as time went on, I wanted to help the upcoming generations grow in a more safe and secure environment that would help them overcome their obstacles. Now, I am excited to be part of the Arms Wide mission since they help transform the lives of children in need of safe and nurturing permanent families. Their mission allows me to grow my passion of helping the new generations and placing them in safe and secure homes that with the right help will help them overcome various obstacles.

My favorite part about my job:

My favorite part about my job is the unity and care that the staff has for each other. Additionally, I love being able to help the younger generations and their new families. I am massively thankful that I can work in a delightful environment doing what I am most passionate about.

My least favorite part:

My least favorite part is the fact that there are many children that still need out assistance, but we can only do so much.

More about me:

I am a proud Latina that was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico but raised in Houston, Texas. The most important people in my life are my siblings and parents as they are my biggest supporters and motivators. I am the oldest of my siblings and being able to see them grow and provide them with the many things I couldn’t have, gives me absolute happiness. Additionally, I have grown up in an empowering family that always pushes me to go beyond people’s expectations and my own limitations. Therefore, I do not let my physical disability, rheumatoid arthritis, stop me from doing many things. I love helping people and I do everything to the best of my abilities to ensure each person gets the best out of me. P.S. Cruz is not my middle name but my first last name.
