Why I started with Arms Wide:
Many years ago, before I got my college degree, I was driving in Corpus Christi and I saw a sign for Arms Wide. It caught my attention, so I stopped to learn about this agency. I learned that it was a foster care/adoption agency, and I felt what a fulfilling job that would be to provide children with loving homes and families with beautiful children. Years later, after I finished my degree in social work, I had the opportunity to work with another agency providing services in foster care and adoption. Once that office closed, I began my search for another foster care/adoption agency and I saw Arms Wide and it triggered the memory years ago and I knew, it was meant to be. I love it here at Arms Wide, the work is so rewarding and the staff are so welcoming and kind!
My favorite part about my job:
I love making a difference in the lives of children and families in need of belonging and wholeness. I also love outreach and networking with people in the community and building partnerships so that the community is aware of our services.
My least favorite part:
Knowing what these poor children have been through that led them to be in need of our services.
More about me:
I am a spiritual person who leans on my faith in God but respects everyone’s beliefs in a higher power. I am originally from Mississippi and moved to Corpus Christi after meeting my husband of 20 years. He is a Master Sergent in the Army and has served almost 30 years including many combat tours overseas. Being a military spouse has taught me how to be adaptable to change and has instilled resilience in me. My husband and I have three beautiful children together. Out of all the titles I’ve had, “mama” is my favorite.
As a victim of childhood abuse, I have prided myself in creating a safe and happy environment for my children and the children I serve in the community. I consider myself to be a child advocate, no matter where I am. My motto is, “see something, say something, do something, make a difference.”
Ask me about:
The Bible, horses, my children’s academic achievements and musical talents, advocacy, country living and beach life!
